Twenty-four councillors took the oath of their office at a swearing-in ceremony held at the Manjung Municipal Council Hall here recently. The councillors, retained from last years line-up, consisted of representatives from Umno (8), MIC (7), Gerakan (4), MIC (3), Royal Malaysian Navy (1) and PPP (1). Councill persident Zamry Man persided over the ceremony. The Oath of Office Act was read to the councillors prior to the ceremony to remind them of their responsibilities. Zamry
urged them to be re-sponsible and efficient in serv-ing the public. "All of you are required at all times to uphold the good image of the local council and promote harmony between the races and government in Manjung dis-trict," he told the councillors. Meanwhile, Zamry said the councils revenue for last year increased to RM34 million revenue. He said after
taking into ac-count operational expenditure, mostly on salaries, services and supplies, the surplus would be spent on further development to enhance Manjung as a premier tourist destination. He also said that Manjung would be hosting the
